0.16.3 was announced a few days ago, but if you're running a node and haven't already updated, then you really must do so as soon as possible. The bug fixed in 0.16.3 is more severe than was previously made public. You can download 0.16.3 from bitcoin.org or bitcoincore.org or via BitTorrent, and as always, make sure that you verify the download.
If you only occasionally run Bitcoin Core, then it's not necessary to run out and upgrade it right this second. However, you should upgrade it before you next run it.
Stored funds are not at risk, and never were at risk. Even if the bug had been exploited to its full extent, the theoretical damage to stored funds would have been rolled back, exactly as it was in the value overflow incident. However, there is currently a small risk of a chainsplit. In a chainsplit, transactions could be reversed long after they are fully confirmed. Therefore, for the next week or so you should consider there to be a small possibility of any transaction with less than 200 confirmations being reversed.

(*Almost everyone will use 0.16.3, but source-only backports have also been released as 0.14.3 and 0.15.2, it's also OK to use Knots 0.16.3, etc.)

Whether you're new to cryptocurrency and have no clue what a 'litecoin' is, or a seasoned investor in cryptocurrencies, the resources below will answer all your questions. If you still have questions, feel free to ask below in the comments!
Litecoin (LTC or Ł) is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency and open source software project released under the MIT/X11 license. Litecoin is one of the largest, oldest, and most used cryptocurrencies in the world. Similar to Bitcoin, Litecoin uses blockchain technology to process transactions.
So what's the difference? To process a block, Litecoin takes 2.5 minutes rather than Bitcoins 10 minutes. This allows for faster processing times. Litecoin also has the capability to produce a total of 84 million units, compared to Bitcoins 21 million. In addition, Litecoin uses scrypt in its proof-of-work algorithm, a sequential memory-hard function requiring asymptotically more memory than an algorithm which is not memory-hard.
Still confused? Take a look at this video!
There are many websites and applications where you can buy and sell Litecoin, but make sure the exchange you are using is trusted and secure. Here are some exchanges that are trusted in the cryptocurrency community:

Coinbase USD/Euro/GBP |
Quadrigacx CAD |
Bithump KRW |
OKCoin Euro/Yen/USD |

Litecoin (and other cryptocurrencies) is stored in a digital wallet. When storing Litecoin, you want to make sure you trust the place you store them. This is why it is best to store them yourself through the electrum wallet. It is highly suggested to not store your Litecoin in an exchange (such as Coinbase, Poloniex, Bittrex, etc.) because you don't control the private keys. If the exchange ever goes offline, or becomes insolvent, your Litecoin essentially disappear.
Some other options are:

If you're a fan of mobile devices, then Loafwallet is the wallet for you. Developed by a Litecoin Foundation Dev, /u/losh11, this mobile wallet works great! And remember to always make sure to write down your seedkeys.
Hardware wallets are another great option, in fact, they are said to be the most secure way to store cryptocurrencies. Below is a list of the litecoin flexible hardware wallets.

Litecoin is in the top ten of all cryptocurrencies by market capitalization. Websites are rapidly adopting Litecoin as a method of payment as well. If you yourself want to accept LTC as a business, you can refer to these merchant manuals. Alternatively, if you would like to explore websites that accept Litecoin, head over to /r/AcceptingLTC.
Here are also several of our favorite merchants accepting Litecoin.
The Litecoin community is extremely kind and robust. There are many forums and places where you can discuss Litecoin with others who are interested in the currency. Here are the main ones:

This post is a sequel to my earlier Merchant's Guide and the Ultimate Guide to BTCPay. Since then, the software has matured, it's more feature-rich, light-weight and easier to install with plenty of documentation and video tutorials available.
BTCPay Server is a free and open-source cryptocurrency payment processor which allows you to receive payments in Bitcoin (on-chain and via the Lightning Network) and supported altcoins, directly to your wallet without fees, transaction cost or a middleman via your own full node.
Think of it as a non-custodial invoicing system which eliminates the third-party. The private keys are never uploaded to the server. There is no address re-use since each invoice generates a new address deriving from your xpubkey. That means increased privacy, security, and censorship-resistance. It's a tool for self-sovereign businesses, organizations or even individuals.
The most significant advantage of BTCPay over other processors is that it is entirely free and open-source, non-custodial software, created by the community. While most of the other processors hold your Bitcoins, BTCPay allows you to receive payments P2P, directly to your software or hardware wallet.
BTCPay is a self-hosted software. This means that you are your own payment processor. There are no subscriptions, no transaction fees. There's no third-party involvement which significantly increases the censorship-resistance, privacy, and security for you and your customers. Furthermore, BTCPay enables you to become a processor, which means you can charge for registration of your local merchants, or provide a free service to help spread the adoption.
The easiest way is to use a web-wizard deployment and launch your BTCPay, Full Bitcoin and LND node in under a minute. Please visit this page for more deployment methods.
BTCPay is a 100% free software. You can run it as a self-hosted solution on your local server, or use a hosting provider, which is what a majority of users do. Additionally, you can use a third-party BTCPay host and attach your store to it.
If you choose to host it externally, the price depends on the hosting provider. Be sure to choose a VPS which meets the minimal requirements.
The low-priced VPS servers tested by the community start at around 8.8$/month.
BTCPay is decentralized, non-custodial service, so we don't really have a way of keeping a track on the number of users. However, some community members try to keep a list of BTCPay stores.
Follow this step by step guide and build your first online store from scratch.
The easiest way is to use the software for your business, provide feedback and report any bugs or issues you or your customers encounter.
Translating BTCPay, helping us with documentation are also ways in which you can help, even if you're not a developer or tech-savvy.
We need more VPS hosting providers to implement 1-Click BTCPay deployment and make BTCPay widely-available.
We are actively looking for developers who can take on and resolve GitHub issues and help with development.
We appreciate each and every contributor to the project and support we get from the community here.
Have a question about BTCPay Server? Feel free to ask in the comments.
Hi
I have a couple of questions regarding litecoin:
Thank you for your time
Can somebody please link me to somewhere
Without ridiculous charges
Doesnt require you to be 18
And works in Austalia i.e accepts aussie ids, passports
Loyally Litecoin
In a world with one coin to rule them all,
One champion to rise and fall,
Litecoin was born to walk-the-talk
Call him the new kid on the block
7 years ago today,
from a chain not so far away,
The mainnet went live with glee,
and from the vision of one Charlie Lee
Now we all rejoice with pride
in a coin meant to complement not divide
to bring payments to a storage of value
and not without haters, let me tell you
Where we go from here is up to us,
fight for decentralization in which we trust,
block-by-block we spread the word
and remember the day it all occurred
Hey sorry for a dumb question but it says its 7 years and 0 weeks behind and i syncing how long does this typically take? Im on like 2mb/s internet
For my S/O's birthday I gave them so LTC but they're skeptical on how it can be used, where accepts it and how it works I said it's just like cash you can buy things in exchange for litecoin.
0.434 (about $25.00) what can they buy? They're staying in Washington D.C. Help me prove to them this is something that will change the world.
If you accept it in your store or shop I want to hear about it, if you know somewhere that accepts it I want to know.
Thank you
Woke up, random check in coinomi and my 2 LTC are gone. The account was crypted and I saved my private key into paper only. The device (Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus) is not rooted and has the latest updates. In the moment of that transaction I was sleeping. I know that those 2 LTC are lost, the questions are: 1. 'How was someone able to steal them in the first place?' 2. 'What can I do so this won't ever happen again?'
Thanks for your time

Hello guys :) I noticed that the minimum possible fee for a transfer was 0.001ltc / kb on my wallet. My question is : what determines the size of my transaction ? I tried sending 0.5 ltc to another wallet (an exchange) and the size was 3kb, i was expecting something smaller, Did i do something wrong on my end or is 3kb normal ?
